What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of natural and holistic health. The literary meaning of Ayurveda is the science of life. Ayurveda tells us about the basic causes of the disease as well as its holistic diagnosis.
The Basic Principle
It states that the effects of the five great elements - earth, water, air, fire and sky elements on humans and the importance of keeping them balanced for a healthy and happy life have been propounded in the ancients texts of ayurveda. According to Ayurveda, some of these five elements have more effect on each person than other elements. Ayurvedic doctors often describes three doshas as classified by Ayurveda:-
Vata dosha
Pitta dosha
Kapha dosha
These doshas have an impact on a person's health. Ayurvedic medicines attempt to treat these doshas.
